Welcome to the Denby Dale Travellers running club. We are based at The Pie Hall on Wakefield Road in Denby Dale. Club training nights are Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm with groups for all abilities, from age 16. If you are interested in running, either competitively or just to keep fit, why not pop down on one of these evenings. We would be very pleased to see you!

Junior Section to Launch in April!
The Travellers plan to launch a junior section for young
people aged 8 to 16 years, starting in April this year. Current plans are
that the Junior Section would meet on Wednesday evenings using indoor and
outdoor facilities at Shelley High School.
Plans to launch a Junior Section follow a unanimous decision
at an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Club in July 2014. A core group of Club members, led by Jo Worboys-Hodgson are now driving
forward the Junior Section initiative with Club coaches and coaching assistants
now developing their skills.
West Yorkshire Sports and Kirklees Council are supporting
the junior section initiative and local clubs are also lending a hand with help
and advice. Further information about the Junior Section sessions will be available very soon.
Thursday Evening Club Sessions
evening sessions focus on building speed and stamina working as a group, so that runners of all
ability are very much welcome
These sessions are great for improving general fitness and
preparing for autumn races. Why not come along and give one a try! Every Thursday, 7pm from the Pie Hall.
Over the past few weeks these sessions have proved very
popular led by Claire Wilkinson. If you would like to get involved and help organize a session, please contact Claire.

Mickleden Straddle Fell Race
Sunday 1 February 2015
Unfortunately the race planned for Sunday 1 February had to be called off due to deep snow on the course. We regret having to make this decision and it has not been possible to re-arrange the race at short notice. So unfortunately there will be no Mickleden Straddle this year, although we plan to resume in 2016.
