Birdsedge Challenge

The next Denby Dale Travellers race is the Birdsedge Challenge 6 mile multi-terrain race which takes place at 11.00am on Sunday 7 July. The race starts and finishes on Birdsedge Lane, just off the A629 Huddersfield to Sheffield road, with the course including quiet country road, tracks and rural footpaths. Mickleden Straddle Fell Race

The Mickleden Straddle fell race took place on Sunday 3 February 2013, over a 14.3 mile course with 2431ft of climb, starting and finishing at Langsett Barn. The race took place in cool, blustery conditions, with the recent rain and snow making it hard work for the runners.

   The race was won by Tim Ellis of Calder Valley in an excellent time of 1:39:27, ahead of Ben Mounsey also of Calder Valley and Tom Brunt of Dark Peak. Helen Fines of Calder Valley won the ladies race in 1:54:24, with Jo Bolton of Kimberworth and Cat Faux of Belgrave Harriers taking second and third places. Helen's winning time was a new ladies record, beating the previous best by more than 7 minutes!

   The Dark Peak team of Tom Brunt, Thomas Webb and Dave Taylor won the men's  team prize with the Calder Valley team of Helen Fines, Jackie Scarf and Helen Buchan winning the ladies prize. Full results are available by following the link on this page.
